After careful consideration and thoughtful deliberation, the Comanche City Council announced that the Comanche Animal Shelter will close for an indefinite period of time beginning this Friday.
Effective, August 25, 2017, the Shelter will no longer accept owner surrenders, strays, or drop offs at this facility. All animals currently in the shelter must be adopted, fostered, or re-homed by the close of business on Thursday, August 31.
Mayor Ronnie Clifton offered the following message, “We would appreciate the public’s cooperation in helping the City to place animals in their temporary or permanent homes by the end of the month. This will enable this City to move forward with an assessment of Shelter functions, operations, building repairs, equipment needs, and sanitation.”
The Shelter will be open on Saturday, August 26th from noon to 4:00 p.m. to assist the public interested in adopting or fostering an animal. In addition, the Shelter will be open extended hours until 6:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, August 28th through August 30th to assistant with animal placement.
